6 Steps to a Famous Blog

Observing around, blogging became more popular as time pass by. Well I guess people now became so addicted with it not because of its catchy colors, glitz, or whatsoever but because this is where they express themselves as an individual and thus, gives them the urge to post and blog.
Blogs, or web logs, are one of the fastest-growing means of mass communication. Though blogs originally gained mainstream attention in the 2000’s through articles in prominent newspapers and magazines, several popular weblogs now rival traditional media outlets in terms of readership and arguably, cultural relevance. The “blogosphere” has affected elections and corporate policy, and some blogs have millions of readers a day. Moreover, they are fun to read, and writing them can be enjoyable, too.”
All of us have that goal of becoming popular through blogs, but, what are some tips or should I say steps (according to the author) that can be helpful to improve and get your blog to popularity?
1. Choose what type of blog you want to create. Carve out a niche and pick a catchy title that captures the essence of your blog. Remember that a blog, like your clothes, is an extension of you. For most people your blog site may be the only thing they identify you with and you want to be sure that who you are on the inside is reflected in your blog.
2. Decide how often you are going to post. Some claim that posting at least once every day is best; Some also say that three quick posts a day are far more effective than one long post every three days. Others claim that when they update a blog every other day they get more readers than when updating two or three entries in a single day. Whatever you do remember that for most bloggers, it’s all about reading and many of them would prefer quality over quantity. Once you get started you’ll find that you attract a certain readership, and you may have to adjust how you work your journal to appease and keep the readers you’ve obtained.
3. Get some things together beforehand because some recommend putting together about a month’s worth of material before you tell anyone about your blog. It is recommended that you just start writing and fame will come in time. Feel free to go back and rewrite entries to make everything just the way you want before or after you “go public.” You can edit any entry at any time with most blog sites. Writing a popular blog doesn’t happen overnight. The essence of the blog stems from journaling which means the blog is FOR YOU. Work it how you feel most appropriate.
4. Tell close friends about your blog and ask them to tell their friends. Often if you use it as another way to network with those people around you, you’ll get a better response. If you push it too hard don’t be surprised if they ignore your blog because they feel you’re fishing for compliments and attention…remember, blogging is about you, and the more attention you put into yourself, the more people are going to notice.
5. Look around the Internet for blogs you love. Read and post to them religiously. Leave a note that actually has something to do with their site so that they know you actually took the time to pay attention to the material posted. Do not expect anything back in return. Just commenting will cause others to be more likely to visit your blog and do the same. Often, when you make comments to sites, a link to your own personal site will already be included with your comment, unless you are posting from one hosting site to the next. If you’re at ITW and you read a blog on Myspace then it would be appropriate to include such a link.
6. Build a network with other people in the blogosphere - make friends online. This is the best way to get readers and a great way to meet people you would otherwise never know. If you get one thing from blogging, this will be it.

The Chinese Beggar

Last April 6, 2011, my bestfriend (Ma. Hanzel Sy Ranit) and I went to U.E. Caloocan. She inquired something there and we went out. I don’t know why but I brought my camera that day with me, not thinking of any reason I just kept it inside my bag. While passing through Samson Road (Hanzel decided that we should walk instead of taking a jeep)
While we had our chit chat, we’ve noticed people surrounding something, we tried to approach then we saw a Chinese beggar, having a drum on top of his head and white cartolina that tells something.

Both of us looked at each other and read what his cartolina says:

I brought above $ 40M to phil. but I almost was killed two times. I’m a Chinese (refugee), announce my government expoilt its people. Then I had to leave china. but in phil. my government and its phil partner (1) blockes me. I cannot get help; (2) have been trying to kill me by poisonous drugs. electromagnet wave. “gong fu”.”devil”, cellphone accidents etc. then (3) I don’t have safe (rice, water, medicine, room, pace to stay). (4) I can’t contact international as general . (5) I don’t know language of phil. my English is very bad. (6) I’m alone in phil. Pls help one peso!

I elected president for phil. but I have to beg still. (1) I have to wear the drum to sleep then china government put poisonous drugs into my drum to poison me everyday(night). My feet and legs swelled still on Apr 5, 3, and 4. (2) two men (wore red shirt and blue shirt)openly  put poisonous drugs into air to poison me (some Chinese characters I can’t understand) a boat (another Chinese characters he included that maybe he can’t express to English) put a poisonous drugs into air to poison me. Direction of wind changed. It left when I stayed at seaside on Apr 4. (3) when I fetched water I watched on Maceda Aug Manila on Apr 5, China government put poisonous drug into air to poison me. I dizzled.

I was so shocked about what it says, I mean was he some kind of a “big personality” in his country (China) that even the Chinese Government even bothers to poison him again and again just to stop him from saying what the truths were. Looking at his letter, I noticed that he had wrong spellings and grammars but this was not the point, the point was, he tried his best to announce to the public what had happened to him. I think there were some sentences or phrases that he can’t express to English that’s why he wrote them according to his own language.

What will the China government say to this? Does the letter says the truth or not? We had Chinese embassy here and what are they doing?

Some of my friends told us that this was maybe a prank to collect money or maybe a syndicate. If this was a syndicate, why does Chinese government let this happen and even, why does the Philippine government let this happen to his citizen? Maybe this Chinese was not a Filipino but still, he was inside the Philippine territory and so, it was the responsibility of the government to protect its people.

I felt pity to the Chinese beggar looking at his situation. One thing came into my mind, what if one of our kababayan was in his situation, begging alms abroad, and nothing to eat? We, as people of this country should do something to help this kind of people.
After we read, and took some of his pictures, I gave twenty pesos to him, then I smiled when he said in simple words “Ah, Thank you!.”

i submitted this article to ABS-CBN's IReport. Hopefully they'll recognize it!

DENN★LEVY: His Life (An Autobiography)

March 12, 2011, I submitted one of my final project in my major subject Developmental Psychology. It took me almost one month to accomplish this, half of it was for conception of ideas, retrieving data and pictures, and recalling events in my life and the other half was for finalization, polishing, and doing printing, making box and final touches.

Actually, It gave me an idea to make box for my autobiography and the picture above was the design of the box i made myself. This was a black star, that i really love, that i made. It was designed with black sand swirls.

I really love classical designs and arts. That's why I made my box with some classical patterns that I bought at the bookstore.

Inside the box, I put a letter, one CD (contains movie of my life, and pictures), and the book that I made with my whole heart.

The letter was made to prepare my readers about what they will see inside the book. I was inspired by Lemony Snicket that's why, I also made a letter for my "dear readers" The letter was put inside the envelope, which I also made my self with the letter 'L' on the opening meaning - 'letter'

As what I've said, I included a CD inside the box. This contains, as what I've written, my life in a movie form with pictures. I also included the music video of my favorite song so far, "Fuckin' Perfect" by Pink, This song was full of good messages. It was more practical and convenient to use movie presentations than print pictures in tons and tons of copy.

The book i made was composed of 13 chapters entitled:
1. Step 1
2. Set Sail!
3. Loading...
4. The Returnees
5. Culture Shock
6. Visit
7. Catastrophe
8. Tour
9. Last Stop
10. Laud
11. Accty
12. Tsunami
13. Bridge
This book had a total of 38 pages that i made for almost a month. It had Prologue, and the page where i wrote whom I offer my book.
The Book was entitled: "DENN★LEVY: His Life"
The Autobiography I made was all about my life of course in a third person form. I thank Sr. Mardy for the opportunity in assigning us doing an Autobiography. Because of this I realized a lot of things and I had so much fun remembering my past.

BS ACCTY's Photo Shoot at De La Salle Araneta University

It was on Monday when these Accountancy students held a photo shoot for their Art Appreciation subject. Well, I guess this photos will be used for one of their requirements.

Actually, these are not the official photos that they’ll going to use. The group had their own camera but I insist to use mine.
Obviously, the group was composed of girls. Not minding why but I guess that’s what how one’s instinct worked, to choose members according to your gender and preference.
Funny it was because it took us almost an hour just to take pictures and to make those good take of jump shot but in the end, they didn’t had it.
Well, that’s all that I’ve got! My camera got empty (battery) and so, I have not able to take some of their pictures but they have lots of it.
These photos will be used as a photo mosaic for their project. How I miss the times that we used to be together.
FG and TCG, those were their group names. Yes, their group was composed of two groups of friends, but now, they were joined to make force! HAHAHA… ^^

HYUNDAI’s “HAPPY MOVE!” (Moving the World Forward)

Last January 15, 2011 Hyundai held a Mini Olympics at De La Salle Araneta University. This program aims to develop good relationships between Korean and Filipinos and also build awareness between two cultures.
The volunteers were 60 Korean students and 15 Filipino students, of course, I’m one of the Filipino volunteers. There were also 450+ out of school children beneficiaries in a minor age.
Actually, Hyundai’s “Happy Move - Moving the world forward” program was held in 12 days. Korean volunteers made houses for those less fortunate and repaint walls and fix bathrooms. These were their missions here in the Philippines.
At first, I thought that the upcoming event was just an ordinary one, but we (my classmates and I) were shocked because the event was not local but it was international.
Before the mini olympics happened, we were grouped accordingly. In each group there were 6-7 (i think) Koreans and 1-2 Filipino students.
After we were grouped, all of us fixed the things that we will be needed and built a big tent. I was grouped in the color IVORY.
We also decorated our own tents and in my group, we made balloons and I was happy because one of my Korean groupmate, Song, taught me how to twist a balloon.

Then the kids finally arrived, 450 kids were divided according to the total of our group then were grouped with us. These kids will play the obstacles. Before the Olympics, Koreans face painted the kids.
Before the Mini Olympics started, we had our lunch with the kids. Then the Mini Olympics started! All of us were so happy especially the kids. In each tents, there were lot of obstacles and in ours, we had jumping ropes. The day was hot and the sun was up, we were all tired but still continued to finish our duty.

After the event ended, Koreans offered to us their dance numbers and danced with Korean pop songs. Of course, the kid beneficiaries also offered their own number and danced some folk dances here in the Philippines.
After the dance number, we rested for a while then a new game began. This game used a big ball then what we will do was to hit it going backwards then should return it back immediately.
The Olympics ended and it gave us a lot of fun and an unforgettable experience.

After the kids (beneficiaries) left De La Salle Araneta University, Ms. Heo, Hyundai Korea Manager talked to the Filipino students to join them with their dinner party. We agreed and joined the dinner. We rode in a bus then went to a restaurant.
There, the Koreans thanked and gave backpacks to us for their gratitude.

We, the Filipinos, were so happy because of the opportunity given to us. And I think, this will become one of the highlights in my life and also, I hope, this will happen again…
These were the Filipino Volunteers…
Me (Denn Levy), Leah, and Steven
By the way, if u want more photos of the event, you can add me in my Facebook account, this is mine: denn_levy@yahoo.com
Well, those were the times… Think we better move on and don’t stick to the past ‘coz if we do, we’ll be stuck forever…
